Strolling with a Stroller

Woof hello Everypawdy,

The weekend has arrived and this week we celebrated my year with a stroller. I love it and Mom is going to share with you today what she has learned when walking me with it. I can be Bossy.

I need a haircut which Mom is planning to arrange this week

Riding in the stroller is fun, relaxing as I enjoy the outdoors and although I cannot see there are lots of smells to keep me awake and alert. When I stand up in the stroller Mom knows I need to do my business which is my way of telling her, so we have no accidents in it, and I get to walk as much as I want. Mom does not stop me from walking as she says I need exercise plus I love to sniff all the pmail that other dogs have left me. I can also now travel safely on the bus or train as no one will step on me and the nice thing is the public transport can lower the step which makes it easier for Mom to get on or off. Using public transport instead of taking a taxi has made it so much easier as I do not have to fold the stroller each time which is back breaking for me, so it is a win win situation for all of us.

Another plus with having the stroller is being able to take Layla everywhere with me as she lies in the stroller when I am in meetings, so I am totally relaxed chatting and that includes coffee shops and restaurants, so she is less at home alone plus when we do get home she is tired from being outdoors. It has become my other arm as such, and I feel lost without it and her LOL so it is working wonders for both of us.

The only thing that really upsets me and gets me angry is when people on the street make rude comments about her in the stroller but am learning slowly to ignore as I say, “Small things amuse small minds” That is my motto at the moment.

Otherwise, our life is busy as always, we went to a pool party on Tuesday evening which she loved as she was petted and spoiled by everyone but we got home late and I was so ready for bed but Madam was ready for snuffle ball and playtime LOL. Park time with her friends and in a nutshell a slowish but busy week as we always have as I believe keeping both of us busy means keeping us young LOL.

Standing under a tree in the park

Walking home from the park

I must admit although we have the stroller, which eases the lives of both of us, she especially being nearly 17 years old and blind, she does love to walk and I allow her to as much as possible also, I am thankful to Myos for their amazing muscle formula mixed with green lipped mussels as they are keeping her joints really healthy and her being able to walk sometimes even two blocks is fantastic, you should check out their products on this link.

So on this note we hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with out plans strolling with the stroller not sure where yet.

And out we go again

Woof and love, Layla

I have been busy.

TGIF!!!! Another week gone in July and I seem to be getting busier each week, I might be old but keeping busy keeps me young, that is what Mom says.

Last Sunday we went to the Annual TriPawd picnic which was so much fun. Lots of people and dogs, and of course lots of treats. They had a band playing music which was pawsome while everyone ate their food, Mom’s friend Melissa came also to hang out with us so while they were chatting I was of course napping as that is what I love to do in the park. The grass was cold and damp so we were not hot at all plus I must not forget

It was National Ice Cream Day, so Mom had surprised me by buying me some ice cream which was yum. I shared it with my friend Grumble so we both had some. It was perfect for a hot day and Mom of course had her cold brew coffee which she is addicted to BOL. She adds Chocolate Mix with mushrooms so she claims it is healthy for her, giggling as she tries to convince herself all the time. You can read more about the mushrooms on the below link and it is worth getting.

Stealing the treats from Auntie

On Sunday night I cannot believe it, Mom left me at home alone grr as she went to see a Broadway Musical with Aunty, she got home late and I was not impressed, I had to pee so bad I had an accident on the carpet, Mom was not upset, took me out immediately and then cleaned the carpet and I got some treats and went back to sleep. Mom explained to me that sometimes she needs to go out and will always come home to me but as I have aged my anxiety has gone through the roof and do not like being alone anymore although in my younger years I loved my alone time.

On Tuesday I was spoiled and went with Mom and my favorite Uncle to my favorite restaurant, Palmyra for lunch. It is a Syrian restaurant where the food is so good especially my favorite, the chicken of course. There Mom has an addiction also, their garlic sauce which she sits and licks till everything is clean BOL, she is a funny Mom.  On the way home we went and sat in the park for a couple of hours, which was great as I wandered around sniffing everything, and of course I got treats from the treat people. It was such a fun day especially as I got to do what I love doing so when I got home my tummy was full and I was sleepy, so I took a nap.

Smile, I got chicken

Relaxing with a full tummy of chicken

Yesterday and today, we took it slow although Mom had errands to go to I stayed at home and relaxed, I was good and did not pee in the house so Mom gave me some extra treats as a thank you.  I don’t mind during the day but not at nights as it scares me.

Mom has decided that this weekend we are doing park time and relaxing only, she says she needs some downtime and fresh air although BOL when we in the park I love wandering around and Mom comes after me so I will not go far so she does not relax as such, it is the price she pays for taking me to the park but still does it, she is a glutton for punishment.

What are your plans this weekend? Please stay cool and hydrated as the heat can be dangerous.

With love and woofs

From Layla

I am running like crazy

TGIF!!!  The weekend has arrived, so many of you are complaining about the heat and here in San Francisco it is cool, overcast and gloomy. We need some sun.

I have been researching supplements for Layla to keep her muscles and joints in as best condition as possible with her aging, as she loves to walk but noticed.

That she would sit down in the middle of a walk and although she has the stroller, she needs exercise also. With my research I came across this company

Myos which have a fantastic muscle formula with green lipped mussels and decided to give it a try. What a difference since she is getting it. The plus is it is powder form so easy to put in her food and she does not know she is eating it, LOL.

The supplement she is getting is the Myos Muscle Formula with Green Lipped Mussels:

Fortetropin® Plus Green Lipped Mussel Powder

  • IMPROVED STRENGTH: Fortetropin provides nutrients from a patented process using fertilized egg yolks and is a powerful muscle building supplement perfect for improving leg strength and reducing pain and inflammation in dogs with muscle loss from aging, injury or surgery.
  • INCREASED MOBILITY: Green Lipped Mussel supports joint health, movement and flexibility, offering natural anti-inflammatory properties that helps rebuild lost cartilage and tendons, reducing associated joint pain.
  • ALL-NATURAL SENIOR SUPPORT: Containing just 2 natural ingredients, our canine muscle and joint health supplement helps to reduce muscle loss and boost daily movement and activity in older dogs.

We went to the dog park the other day and she was running in the park, something she has not done in months, I was chasing after her as her being blind  I was

afraid she would bump into a big dog or the poles around the park but if she had her own way she would have been going nonstop. I was totally amazed and happy to see her move that way, tail wagging and all happy.  See the video I have put here.

https://youtube.com/shorts/MKLNoQmRtjg?feature=share

As our pups age, we are always looking for a supplement plus good food to keep them comfortable, happy, and healthy and this is one I strongly suggest you look into for your pups as their mobility is so important. I am so pleased I have started adding it to her food as she is one energizer bunny again, keeping me on my toes but I would not change it for anything in this world.

I was sponsored by Myos and thank them so much from the bottom of my heart.

Now we must remind everyone that July is Pet Hydration Awareness Month, We must make sure our pets have enough clean water to drink all the time, if we are out on an adventure we have enough water for them as we do not want out pet to get dehydration because of lack of water.

Stay safe everyone, have a wonderful weekend,

With a woof and love from Layla

The Social Butterfly

TGIF !!! The weekend has arrived and San Francisco is having Pride Weekend, lots of parades and parties and the city is going to be chaotic. I am not sure if

I will go to any of the events this weekend as little Miss Social Butterfly is exhausted from last weekend including a birthday park for her friends in one of the dog parks.

Plus we have Gidget staying with us this weekend so it is one happy doggy home this weekend.

Last Saturday we went to a birthday party in the Alamo Square dog park for Dash and Storm, both seniors now and it was lots of fun. It was great seeing all our friends, hanging out in the park although it was very windy LOL but worth the windy weather.  Troy their father did a fantastic job organizing it all, lots of human snacks, yumm and of course lots of goodies for the pups including little swag bags for them to take home with amazing treats inside. They were all totally spoiled as usual and Storm and Dash were very spoiled.

waiting for the goodies at the party

Kissing Uncle thank you for the fun party

The goodie bags for the pups to take home

So now you understand why we lying low this weekend although we will do some regular dog park time for fresh air but we will avoid all the chaos.

As you all know Layla is aging and with age she is becoming a puppy again and starting to do things she has never done, stealing treats from her Uncle’s pocket and this week I caught her sticking her nose in the recycle bin trying to get to the aluminum foil that I had used for cooking. I now must hide things from Madam to keep her safe and healthy. She is becoming a little mischief maker LOL.

That is what is happening here, please be safe everyone and have a safe wonderful weekend,

Happy Pride to those that are celebrating

Why we celebrate Pride Month

Woof hello every pawdy, as you know it is Pride Month all over the world which is a month of celebrating so much that I decided to share with you here the history so you understand why it is so important.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is celebrated each year in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. It opened the doors to our freedom and being able to live the way we want to live, love who we want to love, and as they say it enabled so many to come out of the closet and be openly freely gay.

This year the theme in San Francisco  is #LookingBackandMovingForward and Washington DC was #peace, love, revolution

The Rainbow flag was created by an artist Gilbert Baker and the colors have a meaning.

Red : Vitality

Orange : Healing

Yellow : Sunlight

Green : Nature

Indigo : Harmony

Violet : Spirit

The Pink or Black Triangle: During the Holocaust the Gays were forced to wear Pink Triangles so that they could be singled out and persecuted, the Black Triangle was for the Lesbians who went through the same and that is why we wear those Triangles to remember the Gays and Lesbians who were killed during the Holocaust. In San Francisco every June they put a large Pink Triangle on Twin Peaks for the month to remember those that were killed.  It is the same reason the Jews were forced to wear a yellow Star of David, so that they would stand out and be alienated by the Third Reich and unfortunately met their fate in gas chambers.

So now you know why it is important to celebrate in June, as we are fortunate but there are so many countries to this day that torture the LGBTQ community and they have so many living in fear for the lives to this day:

Muslim Majority : Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brunei, Chad, Comoros, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine/Gaza, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan

Christian majority : Antigua & Barbuda, Burundi, Cameroon, Cook Islands, Russia, Dominican, Grenada, Guinea, Guyana, Jamaica, Kenya, Kirbati, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Papua & New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sierra Leone, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Tanzania, Swaziland, Togo, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Zimbabwe

Other : Mauritius, Myanmar, Nigeria, Singapore, Sri Lanka

I am aware that there are those in the USA that are against the LGBTQ community, label us and so much more but if we keep quiet, do not talk out against the hatred it will carry on and the sad part is that many LGBTQ more youth will commit suicide because of the pressure from those haters.

The reason I am talking out today is we speak out against animal abuse, protecting our pets, Domestic Violence, this is just as important as there are so many in the world that do not have a voice to speak out from fear so we need to be their voices.

So let us celebrate and this week Layla and I went to two Pride Parties, one had a Drag Queen who looked like Cher and sang her songs which was fantastic, a lot of laughter and fun and the other was a Pride Party at a Diving School, a pool party although Madam did not swim, it was just so much fun to be out and about celebrating this month with others. She is exhausted today from her busy week, I am too from pushing the stroller but it was worth it so this weekend we are taking it easy although she has a doggy birthday party to go to in one of the parks, photos will be shared next week.

Relaxing listening to Cher at the Pride Party

Waiting to go to the pool party

Happy Pride to those that celebrate and have a wonderful safe weekend

Woof my friends, we took a break from blogging cos Mom decided she needed a break and umm I loved the idea as it means Mom and Me time together in the park and having fun, so today am going to share with you what we have been up to and of course our Give Away this week.

On the 22nd of April we went to DogFest, an annual fund raiser for one of the Elementary Schools in our area, it was lots of fun with of course lots of treats to taste at the different booths, I filled up my tummy big time while Mom worked hard pushing my stroller BOL. It was noisy, lots of fun but we came home exhausted from it all and Mom complained her back was sore, poor Mom. We hope they made a lot of money from the event. I am sharing a photo of me with the sisters of Perpetual Indulgence who do amazing charity work and always volunteering at events.

Last weekend we spent most of our time in the park as the weather was perfect, warm and sunny and of course I kept Mom on her toes when I was wandering around the park as she did not want me to go far but I have so much fun making her run after me on purpose, although she is trying to relax an enjoy time with her friend and her coffee, BOL.

Enjoying the sun on my face

Last Weekends Adventure

Hi friends,

The sun is out and with it comes the fun. Mom took me to one of our favorite places last week, Stow Lake which is just beautiful and full of nature. Mom and Aunt Laura sat on a blanket chatting while Thomas, Coco and Me wandered around, it was pawsome with hardly anyone there but a few families doing Easter Egg hunts with their children.  So this week we are sharing photos and not chatting that much BOL,

There was a LGBT event at one of the parks called Hunky Jesus and these guys were on their way and outside our building

Coco a lucky rescued girl

Thomas and Layla wandering around

Lots of new smells to sniff

I love being outdoors amongst nature and I love trees

Relaxing on the cool grass, life is good

So you can all see that I might be a senior but am loving life and adventures

Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

Woof with love from Layla

The sun was here for a few days

Woof Hi everyone, we have had a busy fun week although grrr the rain has come back, not fair at all, as I was starting to enjoy the sun again which is good for my old bones.

Last Saturday we went on an adventure to Balboa Nature Reserve to see all the flowers. Mom being Jewish worried I would be cold so put a jacket on me and wow was it hot, she took it off and let me go in the nude, best way to go.

We walked along this pathway to Mom and Aunt Laura found a bench to sit on and they sat back and relaxed while I wandered around and guess what did not sit for nearly 3 hours and of course I made Mom get up and down to catch me, it was so much fun.

Mom it is hot take my jacket off please

Thomas, Coco and I had so much fun and I love spending time with them, they are my favorite friends.

Coco, me and Thomas relaxing, we are all rescues which is the best of the best

Smelling, my nose is working overtime

I came home exhausted but BOL not as tired as Mom from running after me, it was pawsome to be outdoors in the sun.

On Monday it was free ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s so Mom and I went there to get ice cream. Mom got her favorite coffee ice cream of course and they gave me a cup with a small spoonful of vanilla which was so so good and I gobbled it up very quickly and wanted more but Mom would not let me, she is horrible sometimes. She made me sit on my plastic cover as she did not feel doing washing if I spilled on my pillow in the stroller, but shhhh dont tell her I licked all the spilled ice cream off the plastic, you see I help her keep things clean BOL.

Gobbling up my ice cream

So that has been our week, busy enjoying the sun but the rain has come again so we are once again stuck inside grrr.

So before I go back to nap as I need my naps so that I can bark at Mom more BOL, we would like to wish all our friends a Happy Easter and please keep us safe from all the Easter Hazards.

Enjoy your Easter Weekend, have fun and do not overdose on Chocolates,

With woof and love from

Layla
