How are you all doing and we are praying that you are all warm and safe.
This past week has been fun for me, as the coffee shops are slowly opening for outdoor coffee and dining on so Tuesday Mom and I went to meet up with my favorite aunt Alice and they had bagels and coffee. Mom spoiled me with some egg and bacon from hers which was yumm. It was fun to be outdoors and see Auntie although it was chilly and we were all bundled up.
On Wednesday Mom decided to take me on an adventure, she wanted to do errands which are not in our neighborhood so she took me with her. It was so much fun and one of her favorite butchers had a sale on beef so guess who won -me me me. Mom stocked up on beef neck bones for me, Beef for jerky plus so much more. Mom carried everything of course while I sat in my backpack so by the time we got home Mom was exhausted from carrying it all.
Yesterday Mom made me jerky (I now have a big bag in the fridge) plus she made my food for the week, so we can call Wednesday Layla’s Day.
Now I put on the title Are you ready ?
We have been following the news about the terrible storms in Texas plus other areas and other countries and that makes me always check our emergency bag to make sure all is good there. I keep in the bag 8 boxes of water (easier to carry if necessary) plus I have 3 big bottles in the fridge, freeze dried dog food for Layla, the first aid kit, candles, flashlight plus other necessities. These items are crucial for any natural disaster and everyone should have them in their house. I also have small sachets of instant coffee with small sachets of coffee creamer as I could not live without my coffee hot or cold.
So who else is ready ? With climate change anything is possible anytime and we must be prepared.
On this note we want to wish everyone a wonderful safe weekend, for those in the freezing cold try stay warm and our prayers and thoughts are with you,
With a woof and love from Layla
PS. Mom told me to remind you that February 20th is Love Your Pet Day but she loves me every day
You sure had a good time going out n’ about and that was a good score with the beef treats! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Thank you for your blog hop Brian and Layla did score big time LOL
Looks like you had a grand time with mom. How fun and all that yummy food too. Wednesday is your day.
We are prepared here too. Always have been. You just never know what Mother Nature is going to throw at you.
I know you had a woof woof Thankful Thursday. Happy weekend. ♥
Thank you Sandee and yes she is spoiled LOL, I am happy you are prepared like me as I always say it is one less worry for us, stay safe and have a wonderful week
She is so precious! This is a great reminder. We had to dip in to Penelope’s emergency freeze dried food this week. Due to the snow, our pet store was closed and I couldn’t pick up her weekly special order of raw rabbit to make her food. It’s easy to think you’ll never need it, until you actually do!
Thank you Danielle, she is a precious little one and I am blessed. I am so happy you had the emergency supply as it makes us relaxed more knowing it is there. Please stay warm and aafe
I love that you had a great time going out with Mom. Sounds like you both are prepared “just in case” which is smart. I too am praying for those in Texas. Because of what’s going on I was inspired too to get some emergency kit items like spare candles, flashlights and batteries. Best to be prepared as best you can. Enjoy your weekend with mom Layla! We know she spoils you so. You have the best mommy!
Kamira we had a great time and it keeps me relaxed knowing I have the items in the house as that way I do not have to worry, good for you for doing the same. Stay safe and have a great week
I’m so glad you had so much fun, goodies, and fun outside. Living in the middle of nowhere, we are pretty much prepared for anything because we have to be able to be self-sufficient at all times.
Jana that is awesome, I always say, rather be safe than sorry and being prepared is so important wherever you live
It is SO important to make sure that you’re ready in the event of an emergency. The recent storms and issues in Texas are a good reminder for all of us that you just can’t predict what may be coming around the corner. I assure you, the people of Texas were not expecting that they would be walloped with a winter storm like that!
Britt I always say to people you should have things in the house for emergencies as you do not know what can happen like in Texas, rather be safe than sorry
Wow, Miss Layla had quite the week! She deserves to be spoiled with extra healthy treats and visits with friends. I cannot get over how adorable she looks in her purple coat! I Love it. I also love how you have coffee and creamer in your emergency bag – but really, I shouldn’t be surprised. I know how much you love (& need) your coffee, LOL!!
Love & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
LOL Cathy I need my coffee and had to make sure of that. I love that purple jacket on her and she is comfy in it. She had a great week and planning another this week, we need to get out more safely, be safe with love from us
I am glad you are able to get out and about more. I saw a video on the BBC about an artist who was trying to show the impact of the virus. Amazing.
I know you and mum will be happy getting ut and about. We all need fresh air and walks, even us humans!
Marjorie we need the fresh air. That BBC video must have been amazing, take care and be safe
Layla is such a lucky girl! We are pretty well set if we have to shelter in place, but while our dogs’ evacuation bag is packed, the one for the humans is only partially ready.
LOL Beth it is amazing how we worry about them more than ourselves, same here
You are very smart and cute little Layla! It sounds like you really made out big at the butchers – good for you. Mom has to share her jerky recipe – we were drooling while we were reading (well, my dogs were anyway)!
Rebecca she did luck out LOL and will be happy to share my jerky recipe with you, she loves it
My husband and I have separate survival bags, but one thing neither of us have in our bags is coffee and creamer. I can’t believe I didn’t think of it, guess what’s going in my bag?
I’ve been watching the news as well and I’m so thankful for our warm beds and home. These current events inspired me to write an article about including your dog in a natural disaster plan.
Trish thank you for commenting and am chuckling over here over the coffee story, that is just as important as having everything for Layla. Be safe
