A weekend of Adventures

Woof Helloo my Fur friends and Family,

We had such a fun weekend last weekend, Mom spoiled me and took me on two adventures, yes two can you believe it.

On Saturday we went for the first time to the Shi Tzu Meet Up at a great park called Alta Plaza Park. It is a beautiful big park with a view of the Bay on one side and a view of the city on the other side.

There were about 20 Shi Tzus and their owners and what a surprise as it was Jacques (a Shi Tzu) birthday and his Mom made a delicious cake. I have told Mom I want the same for my next gotcha day. We all wore party hats and had so much fun. I also made new friends which was pawsome, as I love meeting other fluffies like me. The weather was perfect and it was a perfect fun day.
I cannot wait for the next one.

Of course Mom had the back pack for the bus as she says it is safer for me when the bus is full so no one will stand on me and I won’t get hurt.

When we got home guess what I did ? Of course sleep as I was really tired but LOL Mom took a nap too. She says she gets tired from carrying me in the back pack so I woofed her that she is getting old BOL.

On Monday we had another adventure. We went with my favorite Aunt Barbara to Fisherman’s Wharf. We went on the tram there and did a long walk along the bay looking out at the sea, Mom and Aunt chatted while I smelled and checked all the pmail. I had to stay on leash most of the time as there were lots of people, skateboarders and Woof I love barking at them BOL. There was a part where there was lawn so I ran over there but Mom left my leash on just in case as we are close to the street.

Mom and Aunt then sat down for coffee, relax and to look over the bay, she gave me of course water and some treats to snack on so I was really spoiled.  I wandered around and looked out also over the bay as you can see in the photo below.

We then came home in one of the old fashioned trams which was fun but I was really tired so Mom had put me in my back pack to rest.
When we got home I ate my dinner, dug up the bed, BOL and then settled for an afternoon sleep.

It was such a fun day and have asked Mom to do this again with me.
Mom is working hard this week and as she told me she has another month of work and then we will be taking a break, but she did promise me if there are any fun events on weekends as summer has arrived she will take me to them.

Many of you must think I am always on the go but actually I do take things slowly also LOL but with summer here, and in San Francisco there is always something doggy going on on weekends, I try to go to them as I feel it is good for me to get out and see what is happening, and good for Layla to be out and about also especially as we live in a tiny studio with no garden, and going to the same park all the time can get boring also.
So as you can see Layla is a spoiled busy girl, but I would not change it for anything and I feel that variety is the spice of life,  and we are going to keep on doing it.

This weekend I have not checked what is going on yet so will go with the flow plus weather wise see what we will do.

Everyone, TGIF and have a wonderful weekend all, cannot wait to hear what you did this past weekend.
Woof with love Layla

Rain rain go away, its a long weekend and I want to play

Friday has finally arrived. I am on my last week of work and then will be taking a bit of a break and spending some more time with Layla.

Last Friday Layla went for a groom, I cannot believe the prices here in San Francisco and they are the same everywhere in the city. For Layla it costs approximately 85 dollars without a tip, BUT it is worth it on the other hand as she is looking clean, healthy and not so scraggly like a ragamuffin.

I am a little snob and sexy

Over the weekend the weather was awful, cold and raining, and everything that I had planned to do I cancelled so Layla and I spent quality time together.

We did meet with some friends for coffee but I felt like I was swimming there with Madam in her back pack quite cozy while I dripped from the rain BOL.

On Sunday when there was a break in the rain I walked her to our favorite pet store to stock up on some Turkey tendons which is her new favorite, AND BOL, guess what ? Madam peed in the pet store next to a box of kitty litter. I nearly died of embarrassment but the staff laughed and told me some other dog had just peed there also. So what can I say but she was testing the kitty litter.

The Boss is ordering me around

This whole week the weather has  been cold and dreary and  I must admit I think both of us have cabin fever at the moment. So let’s hope this weekend, especially as it is a long one, we will have some sunshine and then we will be able to visit a different park which is what I am planning to do at the moment.

So as you can see, our fur friends and families, our week this week has not been so exciting and we need to do something about it.

Have a wonderful long weekend with all your family, both two legged and four legged and your friends, we cannot wait to hear what your plans are.

With a woof with love

Layla

Weekend is here

Good Morning All,

Weekend has arrived and the fun will begin.

The weather is lousy here in SF at the moment, cold, windy and raining and not sure where the sun disappeared. Layla is not happy getting her paws wet so she is hibernating as much as possible in her box.

Last Friday I took the day off to spoil myself and went with friends for the day to Muir Woods. I have never been there and was so excited to go, I decided to leave Layla at home and spend some down time for myself in nature. I know some of you will say poor Layla but it is the first time I have done something like this, and although I felt guilty I really needed it. The Woods are magical, listening to the water running in the streams, the quiet, the birds singing, was heaven for me and relaxing that I came home with new energy and I think I need to do this more often. I am sure she slept and said to herself phew thank goodness she has gone LOL.

On Saturday we went to National Dog Mom’s Day held at Pet Camp San Francisco.
What is Dog Moms Day ? Dig-The Dog Person’s Dating App created a day to celebrate and thank the dog moms who dedicate their love and support every day to their dogs. It’s a different, special and visceral love that deserves its own day to be recognized and appreciated.

Us Moms were spoiled with beautiful tote bags and caps from a company called Drink Babe whom gave us cans of bubbly Rosé Babe, Grigio Babe, and Red Babe to celebrate Mothers Day.

There were also vendors for the dogs :

The hosts : Pet Camp who is San Francisco’s only certified green dog and cat boarding, day care, grooming and training facility. A wonderful place with lots of place to run and have fun. Highly recommended.

On Sunday we had a lazy day, met a friend for coffee and a chat with Madam of course but otherwise we did nothing.

So that is what has been happening in the Layla neighborhood as with the rain at the moment and me back at work nothing exciting is happening although shhh she is getting groomed today and I have not told her yet.

Oy Vey I am going to have to stock up on treats and spoil her afterwards.
Have a wonderful weekend all with lots of fun and laughter.

Hugs and Woof Layla

Dedicated to Mothers

TGIF !!!!!

This week Layla and I discussed it and we want to dedicate our blog to Mothers Day, to all those fantastic Moms out there that do so much for us and / or our fur kids.

Happy Mothers Day with love from Layla

To my Mom, although you live far away we wish you a Happy Mothers Day. You taught me about compassion, my love for animals comes from you, and I only wish we could celebrate over a lunch but just know you are in my thoughts, and although you have not met Layla I know you would have so much fun with her.

I am a Mom, not to a two legged child but a four legged child, that is my choice and although there are some that disagree with us calling them our fur kids I am proud to do so in a heart beat and am proud to be Mom to Layla and to all those that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

What is the definition of a Mother, I think there are so many definitions but this is mine and with Layla I try my hardest to live by it.

Being a Mom is being that person that gave birth to you, or with fur kids adopted you.

Being a Dog Mom we care for you, love you, bathe you, take you to the vet, give you toys, celebrate your gotcha day, shop for the best healthiest treats, take lots of photos and videos, comfort you when you are ill, and in a nutshell make sure you are always safe, happy and of course well fed LOL (That is the Jewish side of me)

It’s a blessing, a gift, a relationship that never ends and a love that never fades. I am your Mom and you are my baby.

So to all the Mothers out there, Layla and I want to wish you all a Happy Mothers Day, we hope you get spoiled and have a wonderful day.

With a Woof and Love from Layla

TGIF with May Arrival

TGIF Furfriends,

WOW we cannot believe that May has arrived, summer is nearly here and that means all the fun, events and adventures start.

Last weekend was DogFest – one of our favorite events and is a fundraiser for an Elementary School and was chaotically fun as always. The last I heard they raised about 95,000.00 Dollars which is just amazing.

There was lots to see, dogs in costumes, children playing different games, food of course and then the section of all the Pet Supplies and Rescues.

I put Layla in her backpack this year as it was a lot easier to wander around and not worry about her being stepped on. Also BOL to keep her away from begging for too many treats although she did get and came home I think with a sore tummy but survived it all.

Different pics plus a dog wearing one of the Bandanas from Transform a Street Dog’s Organization

While wandering around I came a across an Organization called “Transform a Street Dog”,  I had never heard about them and me Ms. Curious had to know more so I spoke with Amanda the founder.

Transform a Street Dog’s Mission:

Their website to read more :http://whatgoesarounddogs.org/?from=%40

They work with different volunteers in Ukraine (in Kiev mostly now) and try to find them shelter (volunteer or profit), homes or medical care for dogs they find since there is nowhere like a Humane Society or something like that to bring them. They also donate to a program at a shelter that offers free sterilizations. That is difficult though, because many believe it is unethical to sterilize animals and deny them the right to reproduce.

What They do: Right now, they manage 3 different foster homes with American ex-pat volunteers, and sponsor 2 others in for-profit foster homes called “perederzhkas.” Generally there are not any volunteer foster homes in Ukraine. So they use different ex-pat sites to recruit them. They also work with 2 different shelters and recruit ex-pats to go there weekly to socialize dogs so they can add them to their adoption list.

They also sponsor local adoption ads, but it is a difficult situation in Ukraine with the financial crisis and war in the east. Finding good homes is difficult. That is why they created an adoption program – just to give the dogs more hope.

They also did a very clever idea and that was hand out free doggy bandanas to all the dogs to draw people to their booth and share the information.
On their website they have some really great t-shirts, each sale helps the organization.

I know some of you are going to think why help other countries as we have so many up for adoption here but unfortunately there are so many countries that do not have the organizations like we have here and I believe we must be their voice and speak out so that they are not forgotten.

The other two rescue organizations that were there was Muttville who I spoke about in my last blog and Family Dog Rescue, another really great rescue organization here in San Francisco.

The Rescue Organizations and Animal Control

Sunday we just relaxed as Mom was tired LOL plus Monday means work day, so we just lay low and took it easy.

So as you can all see we have been busy as always although Madam has it good being carried around in her backpack and I become the slave.
Have not decided what we are doing this weekend and will plan on Saturday morning,

Have a great weekend all,
With a woof and hug from
Layla
