April is over and May is arriving

Spread the love

Woof all my friends,

Can you believe it is the end of April, this year is going so quickly. We had a busy last weekend which was pawsome but tiring.

On Saturday we went to DogFest. It is an annual Dog and Kid event held in the park not far from where we live. It is an annual fund raiser for one of the Elementary Schools in our area. A fun filled day, chaotic with lots of booths selling dog products and other items.

Layla with age is not doing well at events anymore, she has become afraid of all the chaos plus her sight is going so with all the people and dogs I carried her on my back in her backpack. She is happy sitting in it and very relaxed They were handing out samples of different treats which she was very happy to snack on especially the different jerkies LOL.

I was very surprised that there was only one Rescue Organization there this year as there is normally all of the Bay Area Rescues, but I think a lot of people are still getting back to normal lives.

On Sunday we went to chill in my friends’ garden which was great. Layla loves going there as she is alone wandering around, sniffing, and exploring plus she feels safe as there is no one else there. It was wonderful sitting outside in the sun, drinking tea and chatting. It was a fantastic morning and just what I needed.

Saturday is a very important day in the National Pet Holidays, it is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. I have always adopted from shelters as they need homes and will not support Puppy Mills or Breeders. I am aware that people will argue that there are some very responsible breeders, but you cannot change my mind as too many pets are dying in shelters because of the over population.

So, Layla is woofing to everyone please #adoptdontshop and open your home to a shelter pet. They have been let down by humans and deserve a second chance. Share this with your friends, family or co-workers to go to a shelter on Saturday and adopt a new fur kid.

Have a wonderful weekend, be safe

With a Woof and Love

From Layla

  1. I’m glad DogFest was a good one but it is strange that only one rescue was there. We always support pet adoption, it’s the best thing ever! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  2. It sounds like DogFest was fun! I think my Kitsune would feel the same way as Layla. He doesn’t like meeting a lot of new people/dogs as much in his old age as he did when he was younger, but he’d totally love all the treats! Have a great weekend!

  3. I’m glad you had a lovely weekend at Dog Fest and spent time with Uncle in the garden. It’s so nice just to be outside and enjoy the warmer weather. Happy Adopt a Shelter Pet day! Yes! I definitely promote and support adopting shelter pets. There are almost a million euthanized annually. I hope one day nationwide euthanizing healthy shelter pets will be a thing of the past. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    • Kamira it so great to be out and about in the warm weather. We need to speak to speak out for the animals all the time to save them #adoptdontshop

  4. DogFest sounds like it was a lot of fun! Layla has a good deal with her backpack. I didn’t realize that Saturday is Adopt A Shelter Pet Day. I always encourage adopting as well. They make the best furry family members. I hope you and Layla have another great week and get a chance to escape to another friend’s yard to chat.

    • Terri we had a fun time at DogFest but I was exhausted when I got home as she is heavy on my back LOL. On my blog is a list of all the holidays so
you can find them there. It is so important to speak out

  5. Sounds like DogFest was fun! I’m sorry to hear that Layla is having such trouble in crowds. It would be really difficult to lose your vision. Give her some hugs from me. All of my kitties have been adopted. We love pet adoption!

    • Robin it comes with age and she is happy in the backpack plus personally with all the people she is safer in her backpack. I like you only adopt and will
not pay breeders for a dog.

  6. You’re so fortunate to have so many dog friendly events going on all the time where you live – it always looks like a lot of fun! And I want to come & drink tea and relax in Uncle’s garden too LOL!!

    • LOL Cathy that would be awesome if we could drink tea together in the garden while Icy sniffs around. Yes I am blessed to have lots of dog friendly events
here as they are fun and Layla benefits with treats

  7. I think that very few dogs thrive in chaos though they might get used to a lot of activity. I believe that most dogs enjoy a quiet, reliable routine.

    • Jana when Layla was younger there was no problem but on the other hand she is safer in the backpack as no one will stand on her. She does love her quiet times lately

    • Happy May Dorothy. Thank you I really try to find fun things to do on a weekend when the weather is nice as it is a wonderful excuse to get out of the house, LOL.
Layla was cute when I rescued her but she has blossomed with love and care.

  8. Wow you have ahd an amazing wee! So much going on you crazy socialit doggy you. I hope you and mum had the best of times.

It’s autumn here and we look forward to some amazing weather as its still C19 today.
