Good morning, we hope you had a fun Halloween and did not overdose on treats and chocolates and your pets were safe. We stayed home and watched all the people from our window, Nili favorite past time BOL so she was a happy girl. Of course, she had to bark now and then to let everyone know she was there.
Adopting a new dog, after losing your previous baby, Angel Layla, whom you had cooked for over 14 years is learning to change things, adapt to the new fur kid and her needs and each day is a learning experience as you only want the best for her so she will live a long and healthy life. As most of you know I am against kibbles and will not feed them to my pets, each to his own and we can argue about this subject for hours, but I will not relent and give Nili lousy kibble. So, I started searching on the internet for a good raw kibble with all the goodness in preferably air dried and came across this company YumWoof.com.
I have been researching air dried so that I can be prepared for an earthquake with good food in the bag and not have to worry and that is another reason I decided not to home cook so much.
There are many reasons I said wow to them but before I do I want to discuss the difference between air dried and freeze dried.
Freeze Dried Dog Food :
- Low moisture content: Contains very little moisture, typically around 2%, making it lightweight and with a longer shelf life.
- Ingredients are rapidly frozen, then the water is removed through sublimation (turning directly from ice to vapor).
- Can be crunchy and crumbly, often rehydrated before feeding.
- Preserves most nutrients, good for travel due to compact size, can be a good option for picky eaters when rehydrated
Air Dried Dog Food :
- Retains more moisture than freeze-dried, closer to the moisture content of raw food.
- Ingredients are gently dried with low heat airflow, allowing for more natural nutrient preservation.
- Denser and chewier than freeze-dried.
- May be easier to transition to from kibble due to texture, considered a good option for dogs with sensitive digestion.
The products I tried with Nili are:
- YumWoof Perfect Dog Mix: Ingredients : Coconut Flour, Vitamins and Minerals, Organic Inulin, Pumpkin, Hemp Hearts, Blueberries, Cranberries, Carrots.
My favorite as it is versatile as you add the protein to it so it can be changed every couple of weeks but they are still getting a healthy balanced diet, affordable and low in carbs. They have recipes on their website also for ideas.
- YumWoof Perfect Super Food: Grain Free Low Fat Turkey: Ingredients: Turkey Meat, Turkey Organs, Tapioca, Carrots, Apples, Organic Coconut Oil, Cumin, Thyme and Rosehip.
- YumWoof Perfect Kibble Beef Pot Roast Recipe: Ingredients : Fresh Meat, Whole Eggs, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Flaxseed, Carrots, Gluten Free Oats, Blueberries, Cranberries, Chia Seeds, Seaweed, Beef Liver and Pumpkin.
So, as you all can see I am learning daily also but making sure Madam gets a healthy diet as I say food might be a big cost but it’s still cheaper than vet bills and if we start early long term we have a healthy happy fur kid and that is all that matters to me.
YumWoof was kind enough to sponsor this post and I am happy to share with all of you.

Have a wonderful weekend, be safe
with a woof and love from Nili
There sure are lots of options these days so hooray for good research to find the right fit. Thanks for joining Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Hi Terry, it is mind boggling the amount of re3sources out there but I knew what I was looking for and YumWoof had exactly what I needed so am relieved. Thank you so much for your Thankful Thursday Blog Hop as always. Have a great weekend with a woof from Nili
I’m glad you found a choice that works for you! Also, that’s the first time anyone has every explained sublimation in such a way that I understood. Now freeze-drying makes total sense!
We home cook for our dogs at this time. Even with the cost of meat and the Balance It Canine supplement, it’s still cheaper than the only food my dogs would all agree to eat that wasn’t $7 a can. It’s crazy how much quality food can cost.
Andrea I agree the cost of top quality dog food is ridiculous but I do not believe in it either, I have always home cooked for my pets as I know what they are eating but finding YumFoods and the formula that I am mixing the protein with actually works out cheaper as I do not have to buy all the fruits and vegetables as it is all in the formula plus she gets mushrooms daily.
Great information about dog food. I’m currently thinking about changing Henry’s food since it seems to be disagreeing after over a year of no issues. I talked to his vet this week, and he wants me to just add probiotics for two weeks and see if his gut settles down. If not, then he said to try to switch. He suggested a different food. I’ll ask him about YumWoof. I’m glad Nili likes her food, and it’s working well. Hugs to you both.
Terri what I love about YumWoof is the formula where you can add whatever protein you want and they get all the nutrients needed plus it has coconut oil which is good for the digestive system. The Air Dried food is also amazing and very healthy, you should read more about it. I hope Henry feels better soon and you will try the food as I highly recommend it and do not excited that easy LOL. Hugs to both of you
Smme of our cats like air fried, others like freeze dried so it is worth experimenting with both types in case your pet likes them. One might be a definite preference.
The slightly more moist content of air dried is more universally appealing to ours though!
Marjorie the air dried is healthier than freeze dried and that is why I sticking with it and Nili loves it plus it does not crumble like freeze dried, I am happy your cats like the air dried
Thanks for breaking down the difference between air and freeze-dried food. There are so many factors to think about when deciding what food is best. Research is important and it’s great to see a fellow pet parent put in the time and effort to find the best fit!
Tiffany I did not know this till I did the research and I only want the best for Nili to keep her healthy from a young age as it is so important. Thank you for your compliment and the food is awesome you should try with your pups also.
I really like air dried dog food too. This food sounds really good, I hope Nilli enjoys it!
Cathy the food is really healthy and that is what I love about it, Nili loves it so am relieved she is eating well, you should try it out for Jesse and Icy
