September is National Responsible Dog Ownership Month

Spread the love

TGIF !!!!!

Friday has arrived, it is a long weekend for relaxing and spending quality time with Layla and I am sure you will all be spending time with your families, Enjoy !!!!! Stay cool and make sure you all stay hydrated.

September is National Responsible Dog Owners Month,  which is a really important reminder for all of us who are dog parents.

The reason for this is to help us raise healthy happy dogs and it is a good reminder for all of us.

Some of the basics of responsible dog ownership include:

  1. Regular Vet Exams : Keeping them up to date on all their vaccinations
  2. Keeping them fit and not over weight. Feed them a healthy diet only and if possible no kibbles.
  3. Putting dog care in our monthly budget
  4. Making sure their microchip and tags are all up to date
  5. Keep your pets inside so that they do not suffer in summer or winter
  6. Spay or neuter your dogs as there are so many in shelters looking for homes.
  7. Be prepared for Natural Disasters
  8. Lots of love and playtime
  9. Spoil them rotten.

It is so easy to do the above as they are our fur kids and depend on us to live a healthy happy life.

What do you do to keep your dog happy?

Have a safe weekend

  1. Great reminder of what a dog needs. Henry loves his snuggles and playtime. I think Layla loves to be with you as well. That’s definitely part of their well-being.

I hope you and Layla are able to stay cool and enjoy the start of September.

  2. We all need reminders. They do not need to be fancy, just common sense ‘Oh yeah’ type of stuff. Happy responsible dog owners month!

  3. Hello, sweet Layla. So happy to see you out and about and feeling good! These are all great reminders for all pet parents. I so enjoyed so much with my Huskies and making them happy made me so happy. I still find it hard to believe that time has passed with them, but they still bring me smiles (along with the missing them tears).

    • Sending you a big hug Dorothy, you were an incredible Mom to your Huskies and they were so blessed to have you in their lives. Layla seems to be on the mend
thank goodness but it will take time

  4. It’s so important for dog owners to remember the responsibility we have for their care. I try to promote the month as the perfect opportunity to have a conversation with your vet – check in, make sure that everything is in order, reassess any concerns and set yourself up for a happy, healthy life together. This year it’s taking on new meaning for us with Lucifer’s first appointment to start moving forward with his surgeries.

    • Britt it is so important and our vets play such an important part in our lives that we need to have good chats with them. I hope Lucifer will get well soon and thanks
      for visiting us here

  5. Having a dog, or any other pet, is a joy but also a responsibility. We are responsible for their care, health & happiness. Your list is a good reminder of the important things we need to provide. The thing that makes Icy happiest is being with us, especially on our adventures outside the house.
