2025 is here but we must not be quiet as so many animals need our help.

There are so many issues when it comes to animals, a circus or zoo which are prisons for those poor animals and have not chosen that kind of life. The circus animals are beaten and mistreated just to entertain humans, which is so wrong, each time a circus closes, and the animals are set free I celebrate as they should all be free roaming the land where they come from. Animals in zoos should have that same life of freedom, not sitting in cages or enclosures seeing the same thing every day – that is not a life, that is a prison. It is time that zoos close also.
Breeders are just as bad, they breed animals especially in puppy mills or cat mills, where the dogs and cats do not have lives, they are baby making machines, living in deplorable conditions and when they cannot breed anymore, they are dumped like garbage. Puppy or Cat mills should be closed and made illegal. I here too rejoice everything a law passes forbidding the sale of pets in pet stores as the pets do not deserve to be there but like every living being, should be free to live their lives as they do not have a say in their lives and therefore it is abuse.
Hybrid cats or dogs that are bred like Cockapoos, etc are all mutts and should not be labelled as a breed, they are mixed breeds.

That is why Spay and Neuter is so important to keep overpopulation under control, by doing that less animals would land up in shelters or become feral/homeless, but would have homes to live their lives. If everyone spayed or neutered there would be no euthanasia as the shelters would not have all these poor animals hoping for a rescue.
Pets are family, the reason shelters are overflowing is because of the selfish inconsiderate humans who think that when they do not want to be responsible anymore they dump them in shelters. A pet should live his or her life comfortably as part of your family and not get the death sentence as they have been dumped in a shelter, That is the stark reality of what happens and it is sickening.

On this note we are praying that 2025 Shelters will be empty, pets will have loving homes and the abuse will stop.

I am not sure what sort of zoos you’ve been to, but our local one is hardly a prison. They have all animals native to our area in a pretty vast space. (723 acres) There’s a little paved road for trams and you get on to go view them.
Sometimes you get lucky and see all sorts of animals, sometimes not so much.
Unplanned animals join the exhibit all the time because from an animal’s perspective it’s a pretty plush set up. Ponds, forests, undeveloped land and relatively few humans compared to an urbanized landscape.
The only animals in enclosures you might see more like a zoo are animals that were taken there because they were horribly injured and can’t be released due to injuries. A snowy owl who is completely and permanently flightless comes to mind. Their stories are usually penned up nearby somewhere so you can find out why they’re there.
Andrea I understand what you are saying but in my eyes all animals should be left where they belong and not moved to other countries for peoples pleasure. When a wild animal is injured and cannot be released back into the wild is another issue and I agree there that have to be safe and protected. I read all about this issue all the time.

There is so much we can do to help. Spay and neuter and working against negligent shelters like Apple Valley in California (who never share their shelter cats on their website – bad people).
I agree that the sillier names dogs are just mutts. They are not a proper breed.
Marjorie I agree with you so many shelters do not post about their cats but I also think they are so over whelmed and do not have enough staff, Nili was listed a lot older than what she is because they do not do DNA tests either. I blame them but also try to understand them and it is the people that dump their pets that are to blame. As for the fancy names they are mutts and nothing else.
I truly appreciate sanctuaries. I know of several whose humans love and save neglected and abused animals and give them a forever home on their land. I think it is admirable how you speak up for those without a voice. I hope, too, that 2025 brings homes to all the homeless, and that all animals will experience kindness and love. Pinning to share!
Animal abuse is a worthy cause to fight for. It’s our responsibility to care for ALL living creatures. Though I do have to say that as a retired zoo keeper, it depends on the zoo. Zoos are so important to educate the public and get them to care about animals and their habitats all over the world. I worked with animals that were injured and couldn’t survive in the wild. We also participated in research to help their wild counterparts survive and prosper. Releasing zoo animals is similar to releasing our pets in the wild- most won’t survive because they don’t have the skills or the immune system to survive in their new surroundings. I’m all for closing the zoos that only care about profit and not the animals they are responsible for!
Great post!, I despise puppy Mills. It’s great when pet stores close, but many of them just move online. I don’t like zoos unless they are rescue only & they treat them properly. I dislike circus’ too. It’s awful to use animals to entertain people.
Cathy thank you for agreeing with me, I hate the circus and zoo unless it is a rescue sanctuary and the animals cannot be released. As for Puppy Mills, backyard breeders or Pet Stores that sell animals, I boycott them all and will not go near them.
