The New Year has arrived

Spread the love

TGIF !!!

We took a break from blogging as I wanted a bit of a break from social media and now the New Year has arrived it is the start hopefully of new adventures.

Being on lockdown is getting harder as I think poor Layla is bored walking the same directions every day and desperately needs a change and so do I.

In the past month we have managed to do one really great adventure and that is spend a day at Lake Alpine which is about 3 hours from here. It was heaven and wish I could do it daily but unfortunately cannot. I went with a friend and took a picnic including a picnic for Madam, found a place to park and sat on a ledge off the road. Layla could not venture too far as it was dangerous but she was happy just to be outdoors and be spoiled with some of my sandwich LOL.

Other than that we are once a week going to sit in a friends garden, social distance and drink tea and chat while she wanders around.

Every January I also celebrate my freedom from my ex and the abuse and am saying daily thank goodness I am not with her during the lockdown, it would be hell.

So I am looking for easy fun things to do with Layla where possible and one she loves LOL is going to the supermarket with me, it is the highlight of her day and thank goodness it is across from where we live. Her favorite pet store is not far from me also so I try to go once a week with her there and she gets totally spoiled with treats.

I was saying to a friend the other day now I know why I hate zoos as sitting in lockdown is like being in a cage and it can be monotonous and I am sure animals in cages feel the same way.
So let us all pray that 2021 will be a good healthy New Year, with lots of new adventures, fun and just being able to see friends and chat without worrying so much about the virus although wearing a mask is a must.

We want to wish everyone a safe Happy 2021

with love and hugs Layla

  1. Welcome back! We took a short break from blogging as well and very much enjoyed not spending as much time on the computer. I’m glad you and Layla have found some ways to escape even if it is very limited. It’s weird to me seeing pictures without snow in them haha! Our weather has been very snowy and cold, so it’s been hard to spend any extended amount of time adventuring outdoors. I think everyone is looking forward to spring after the year we just all had. Happy 2021!

    • Michelle It must be weird not seeing snow in our pics after I just saw yours. The break was just what I needed to recharge my batteries. Layla woofs she wishes she had
a yard like yours do and she would be happy but no snow thank you LOL. Happy 2021 and be safe

  2. Wishing you & Layla the very best in 2021. It sounds like you are doing a great job making this lockdown time bearable and as interesting as possible! A picnic at Lake Alpine looks amazing, what a great daytime adventure. I can just see Layla tooling around in the market with you, probably being adored by all the customers LOL! The vaccine is well under way so I think we are on the road to recovery.

    • Cathy I hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel for all of us, and yes the lake was amazing and just be out in nature with a picnic is heaven especially in times like this. The people in the supermarket adore her and she is in her element when we go LOL. Take care

  3. Lake Alpine looks fabulous – and sweet little Layla seemed to love it! Being in lockdown is so strange – it’s like being in a jail cell without bars. But, it’s the right thing to do – and it’s the only way to help keep everyone happy. We’ve taken to drives more so during this time, and bicycle rides with the dogs in their little baskets. Maybe we should all do a doggie Zoom so the pups can at least see one another!

    • Rebecca a zoom would be so much fun, great idea. I wish I could ride a bike but would be afraid to fall with Layla on my bike but at least we are all improvising the best we can. Alpine Lake was heaven and just what I needed. Stay safe

  4. Welcome back! I hope that you had a great break and I’m excited to see what the new year will bring for you. I agree, this lockdown is definitely getting monotonous, isn’t it? We try to change up which roads we’re walking throughout town, however, there are only so many routes available in a small town! Lol

    • Thanks Britt and I agree it is getting monotonous although I would rather be safe than sorry. I live in the city and trust me the routes in my area are getting really boring also, and I actually feel sorry for Layla, take care

  5. The last year has been very difficult with the COVID restrictions. I know it must be frustrating with dogs because they need to get out. In fact, so do we humans!!! I’ll be happy when it’s safe to be around other people and travel again.
