Today is Valentines Day

Spread the love

Hello friends,

Today is Valentines Day or as Mom calls it chocolate day, and she told me she is going to spoil herself with a chocolate. I think I should be spoiled and not her but hey she does deserve it sometimes.

Mom and I had a long chat this week about Valentines Day and how I do not need anything as I am a spoiled brat but how the animals in shelters need to be loved also so we decided to put a package together of goodies and we going to drop it off at one of the shelters.

Those animals do not deserve to be in shelters but in warm homes with lots of love but we humans are to blame for that so as Mom says those caring humans who are speaking out for them must make sure also that they are spoiled on Valentine’s Day with love.

We are asking all our friends to please go to a shelter and donate food, treats or toys so that the animals can feel special love also. What could be better than seeing the smile of a dog or cat being spoiled like we are, it is a blessing.

Did you know today is also Pet Theft Awareness Day which is to highlight the rising, often underreported, issue of pet theft, with approximately 2 million dogs stolen yearly in the U.S. This day focuses on educating owners to prevent theft by microchipping, securing yards, and never leaving pets unattended. So please keep your pets safe.

So on this note I want to know who wants to be my Valentine?

I will share my treats with my Valentine, Nili

Please be safe and have a wonderful Valentines Day with woof and love

  1. Thank you Nili for such a beautiful and thoughtful way to spend Valentine’s…by showing shelter animals they’re loved too. I know there are some very cruel people out there who steal pets but I had no idea the number was that high! Very sad. Anyway, wishing you and your mom a wonderful “chocolate day.”

    • Hindy thank you for your input as it is so important to remember and spoil shelter animals. As for the pet theft, it is horrific and unfortunatately pet parents are as much to blame as they do not watch their dogs properly when out in public but the numbers are high which says something and it is heartbreaking

  2. Ah, Valentines. We live in the middle of nowhere so volunteering in a shelter is simply not logistically possible. Otherwise, I love the idea and would do it if we had one at reasonable distance. So instead, I continue my dog health advocacy for the love of dogs.

  3. Even after Valentine’s Day I love the idea of donating, especially if you are ‘time’ or ‘distance poor’. We can all help local rescues and I have several local cat rescues I can support!

    • Marjorie I agree there does not have to be a holiday to donate, it should be a daily thing from everyone to keep shelter animals happy and loved. For those that do not have means to make financial donations they can always do it tais way.

  4. Such a great idea! I love the idea of taking toys, treats, food, etc., to a shelter so those precious beings can feel a bit of love. I hope your mom got several pieces of chocolate on Valentine’s Day. I bet you got something special as well, Nili. Henry says that you need a cookie, Nili for being a good girl.

    • Terri thank you for your compliment, shelter animals deserve to be spoiled all year round so its so important if people drop things off there. Nili is barking at me to tell you to give Henry lots of cookies

  5. Wonderful suggestion to give to shelter pets on Valentines Day. Most of our pooches have so much, and they are the lucky ones. And yes, sadly pet theft is a terrible thing and when the economy gets bad pet theft goes up. Bad people steal beloved pets to make easy money. It’s disgraceful and the saddest thing.

    • Cathy I so agree with you and we have rescues so it feels good to spoil those still in shelters and of course pray they get a new home. As for Pet Theft it is getting out of control and that is why it is so important to spay and neuter our pets so that they cannot be bred by the thieves. Pet Parents also have to be more aware of their surroundings and keep an eye on their pets like hawks to protect them.
