Memorial Day Weekend

Spread the love

TGIF !!!! I am so happy it is going to be a long weekend as I need a break, life has been crazy the past two weeks and I am exhausted, Nili full of energy as always.

This weekend is a long weekend and I have no plans, am going with the flow spending time in the park with Nili where she can run, play and of course bark BOL.

Memorial Day is a somber day in my eyes, I cannot understand how people can wish others a Happy Memorial Day, the sales that are on, the BBQ’s and so much more, I feel people are celebrating not respecting those that died during the wars.

I, out of respect do not celebrate in any way but remember those that passed away, and stay at home excluding being outdoors and in the park with Nili of course.

So on this note everyone stay safe, enjoy your long weekend with your families but please also think of what I wrote here.

With woof and love from

Nili

  1. Our Memorial Day is on 11th of November when the European Armistice was signed and war stopped. In New Zealand they commemorate Anzac Day to remember the Australian and New Zealand fallen. I am glad we have these days to remember the fallen, it is nice that it also marks the beginning of the northern hemisphere’s warm weather.

  2. I just read an article that said how so many get it wrong when they say “Happy Memorial Day.” Instead, it suggested you say “Honoring on Memorial Day” or “Respecting Memorial Day.” I think you absolutely nailed it! People see Memorial as a celebration with the sales and getaways for the “unofficial start of summer”. I like not doing anything in respect of those who lost their lives. That sounds respectful to me.

Henry says Nili needs an end-of-May cookie.

  3. I so agree! Nothing “happy” about it…other than we should be happy and appreciate what those who fought for our country for so we can enjoy all the freedoms we do. Memorial Day is a somber day, a time to reflect, remember, and respect those who gave it all for us. I believe it’s so important to remind others of what this day truly means, even if it is staying home and paying respects (we did that, too!). We thank all the soldiers – human and K9 – who gave up their lives for us all.
