#RememberMeThursday

Spread the love

Hello to all my friends,

I know we normally blog on Fridays but because today is a very important day we are talking today to bring attention to #RememberMeThursday.

I have always rescued and that is why this day is so dear to me.

What is this day ?

Remember Me Thursday is on the last Thursday of September every year when we speak out for the orphan pets in shelters wanting homes,  they are innocent and in many ways we are to blame.

This is a day when we all get together campaigning for them as no innocent orphaned pet should have to die in a Shelter because someone dumped them there.

It is now in its 7th year and as Mike Arms, President and CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center says : We all come from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, but together, we can raise our voices and share one life-saving message and literally save millions of pets on this one day.”

You can read more about it on this website https://remembermethursday.org/

How can we shine a light on this :
01. Attend a Remember Me Thursday event near you. – You can find the events near you on Google or on the website above.
02. Hold a pet food plus other pet related items fundraiser for your local shelter.
03. Check to see if one of your shelters in your area are having an adoption event.
04. Speak out, encourage friends and family to adopt and open their homes to an orphan pet.
05. There are so many ways we can all help, so lets take one step forward today to do it.

On this note we would also like to wish all our fur friends and family a Shana Tova, Happy New Year as our New Year starts in the evening of Sunday the 29th. May it be filled with sweetness and health.

But most of all may the New Year bring homes to all the orphaned pets.

With a woof and love from Layla

  1. This sounds like a great way to help people realize that pets need adoption now more than ever. I will try to contact our local shelter to see what events are planned and see if I can help out in any way. I will spread the word. Nice post (from Dachshund Station)

  2. A beautiful way to remember! And also we have always rescued two! We always hold a remembrance day celebration by donating food and money and helping to pass out info about adoptable dogs at a local shelter! Thank you for remembering!

  3. Thank you for sharing this article! I had heard about Remember Me Thursday before, but I didn’t realize that it happened already, so I’m sad that I missed it 🙁 Of course, I will always spread the word about pet adoption no matter what though.

  4. Such a great message. We donate as often as we can to our local shelters. Since we moved recently we took over a huge box full of toys and blankets for the dogs at the shelter. I so wish I could adopt another dog, but 2 is my limit for now. Happy new year!

  5. It really is important to remember those still in the shelters and those who never made it out. We are all shelter rescues here. Happy New Year from all of us and thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  6. Thanks for shining the light on pet adoption. I am happy that more and more organizations are becoming no-kill, which is significant. I hope you had a great weekend!

  7. Thanks for reminding me of this special event, which I first heard about at a BlogPaws conference. Rescuing pets is such a good thing to do. I frequently tell Buffy that she’s technically my sister since she belonged to my mom and I adopted her when my mom died. I’m so glad that no-kill shelters are becoming more the norm these days, at least in the Chicago area.

    • Sandy it is so important to remind people to adopt and not shop as there are so many pets waiting for homes in shelters. As for No Kill shelters I pray it will happen everywhere in the future as they deserve to live. Buffy is very lucky to have you
