Good Morning friends,
Today is a very important day so without hesitation we decided that our blog should be up today and not tomorrow as it is Remember Me Thursday.
I have always rescued, and only believe in rescuing and that is why this day is extra special for me.
On this day the world will share and discuss the importance of pet adoption, and shine a light on all orphan pets waiting in shelters and rescues to be adopted . We all come from different countries, religions but one thing we all have in common is the fate of the pets in shelters so we need to be their voice as they do not have one.
Those orphan pets in the shelters need homes, they want a warm bed to sleep in, good food, toys but most of all they want to be loved by humans so every time one is adopted you are saving two lives, the pet and yours.
We can help by spreading the word, changing the minds of people to open their hearts also :
01. Adopt and open your house to an orphan pet
02. Go to Remember Me Thursday Events in your area
PLUS I think the most important of all is to show everyone all over the world that adoption is the only way to go as the adopted/rescued pets deserve a second chance.
We want to say a special thanks to Mike Arms, President and CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center, for creating this day to draw the attention of the orphaned pets sitting in shelters and by lighting a candle will draw people to their fate of euthanasia. Thank you Helen Woodward Animal Center for permitting me to share this poem by Mike Arms.
So let’s all get together, light a candle and save the shelter pets and give them the good life they deserve,
Thank you with love from
Layla (my rescue from a shelter)
You are so right, this is indeed a very special day. Adoptions are just the best and here’s to many, many more…and then some! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Brian thank you for your awesome blog hop as it helps get the word out on this important day. Speaking out helps those pets get adopted
Such an important day thanks for joining in and giving support
Our pleasure Timmy, we all need to speak out
Thank you for spreading the word! We love the pic you created, so cute!
Thank you Jackie and thank you all for the wonderful work you do
What a lovely post for #RemembermeThursday. I know I can’t consider ever “buying” a pet. Adopting from a shelter or rescue is the only way for me. Layla is such a gift!
Kamira I will never buy either, there are too many in shelters waiting for homes. Thank you for reading my post
A great day to remind everyone how awesome shelter pets can be! We’re not ready to add any more pets to our family, and there are no Remember Me events near us, but I do what I can throughout the year to help animals in need.
Michelle I understand and neither am I ready to add another but reminding others on this day is important, thank you for helping throughout the year it is much appreciated.
What a great way to remind everyone the importance of adopting and/or working with shelters if they’re able.
I agree we need to be their voice so that they are not forgotten
Shelter pets certainly do make many homes happy. And I’m very glad many have found wonderful homes during the pandemic.
I am also very glad they have but there are so many more that need homes unfortunately
I think that part of the problem still is low awareness of how many dogs are in need of forever homes and how wonderful companions they can make. I’m sure that if people got to meet them, they would fall in love. I think that’s the way to bridge the gap.
I agree and we all are speaking out non stop but unfortunately also is people adopt dogs and then dump them back in the shelters which does not help
Thanks for spreading the word! I volunteer at an animal shelter every weekend in the cattery. Nearly everyone who comes to adopt gets a puppy. We have to send our kitties to area pet stores in order to get them adopted. Makes me so mad!
Thank you for volunteering and I am so sorry to hear about the cats, our pet store helps with cats from shelters also, so I understand your anger
This really is an important topic that we need to talk about more often! Thousands of animals are sitting in recues and shelters around the globe waiting for their forever home – unsure of why they are there or what they did to ‘deserve it’. All 4 of our current pets were adopted and I would have it no other way! They have so much love to give…
Britt it is an important topic and that is why I speak out whenever possible as they do not deserve to be in shelters because of humans selfishness. There is nothing like a rescue
You eloquently speak for those pets who are left behind. Thank you for being such an important voice for those who are lost.
Well done Layla and Mom.
Marjorie my pleasure as I cannot keep quiet and watch them suffer because of our selfishness, thank you also for speaking out
Rescue pets make awesome companions! I’m encouraged that the euthanasia rate has gone down significantly in the United States, but we still have a long ways to go.
Beth they are the best, and I am happy it is going down but we need to get it to zero, every animal deserves to live
I’m hanging out with my rescue kitties who I am giving the best life possible.
Thank you Emilia and rescues are the best
I love that poem. I hope with more of us participating in #RememberMeThursday, we can help more homeless pets, and one day – maybe there the shelters will all be empty because there will be no more pets without loving homes. <3 PS – did you know there is a blog hop you can join for #RememerMeThursday?
I so agree with you and I think I listed on it, thanks so much for your blog hop
This is indeed a very special day. We hope one day there will be no need to have rescues and shelters and that all pet owners are responsible and take care of their pets.
Paula I so agree with you as a pet is family and not something to dump when you have had enough of it
