Good morning everyone,
Friday has finally arrived and not soon enough, I am exhausted as it has been a crazy week.
Last Saturday we went to my favorite park which was such a beautiful day to be out in nature, with friends and just relax. We did not walk down to the lake which I normally do as the coyotes are out and about and was not comfortable. We came home exhausted and just relaxed.
Since Tuesday I have been trying to get hold of my vet office to get an appointment – bi annual senior for Layla and finally today managed to get one with one of my favorite vets. My favorite vet has left the clinic and not sure where he has gone but am going to try find out. So I am finally breathing and relaxed phew plus was told I can go in with her which is even better.
September is National Responsible Dog Ownership Month which is a really important reminder for all of us who are dog parents.
The reason for this is to help us raise healthy happy dogs and it is a good reminder for all of us.
Some of the basics of responsible dog ownership include:
- Regular vet exams
- Keeping them up to date on all their vaccinations
- Keeping them fit and not over weight. Feed them a healthy diet only and if possible no kibbles.
- Putting dog care in our monthly budget for vet care, grooming, food and treats
- Making sure their microchip and tags are all up to date
- Keep your puts inside so that they do not suffer in summer or winter
- Spay or neuter your dogs as there are so many in shelters looking for homes.
- Be prepared for Natural Disasters
- Lots of love and playtime
It is so easy to do the above as they are our fur kids and depend on us to live a healthy happy life.
What do you do to keep your dog happy? Layla would love to hear from you,
Have a safe weekend
With a woof and love from Layla
Every day should be Responsible Dog Ownership Day sweet Layla, I know it is at your place. Your State Licensing Board that is over Vets should be able to tell you when your Vet went. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Brian thank you for the Blog hop as always. I agree the vet clinic should tell me but will try find out when I see the other vet in October. I agree with you every day should be Responsible Dog Owners day as it is so important. Thank you for visiting.
We should do whatever is necessary to make sure our babies are well and cared for.
I hope you had a woof woof Thankful Thursday. ♥
Thank you Sandee and I so agree with you.
I’m glad you were able to get Layla in for her checkup. My Kitsune is due for his soon too. I do all of the above to keep my dogs happy and healthy. They are my family, so I do whatever I can for them!
Michelle we need to look after them as they are our fur kids and you are an amazing Mom. I hope you will get a vet appointment soon.
I hope that your semi-annual vet visit goes well! Those are some very important tips. It has been a long time since I’ve had a dog, but for my cats, one of the best things I can do is to keep them indoors. Another thing I do is feed them wet food.Wet food provides them with a lot more water than they would get if they ate kibble.
Robin thanks and I am hoping so too, we food is so much better than kiblles for dogs and cats and Layla only gets home cooked. Stay safe.
This is a great reminder for all pet parents to continue to provide the best resources and tools for our furry family members. Layla is well taken care of for sure. I’m glad you were able to get your appointment. Enjoy the weekend ahead and hope you have time relax.
Kamira she is spoiled rotten LOL and I am so relieved that I have the vet appointment. We need to be reminded especially those that are thinking of adopting a new pet. Have a great week
It is important to take responsibility for our pets. Our vet is so busy lately that it is hard to get an appointment. With 3 dogs and a kitten, I have to remember to book appointments early since they are booking about 8 weeks out.
WOW Beth I know how you feel it is crazy with vets all over the country at the moment and that is why I took whatever they offered me so at least I have one phew but it must be harder when you have more than one pet.
Such an important reminder to everybody–pet ownership comes with responsibility. Anything valuable in life comes with responsibility. One must never forget that.
Jana you are so right and we all need to be responsible parents if we want a pet
What a great reminder on vet check-ups! Henry just got his reminder that he’s due too for his semi-annual check-up in September. I hope Layla’s visit goes well and your week has you both full of energy and joy!
Thank you Terri and it is so important to make sure they get their check ups so we can keep them healthy
It’s frustrating that we need things like a ‘Take Your Cat to the Vet Day’ because people think cats don’t need it. You bet they do. Dogs and Cats need an annual checkup!
Dogs and cats are a responsibility. They need love and affection, care, medical attention and good food. Unless you are a complete idiot your dog or cat is like a child and needs the same amount of care. Just Do It.
Marjorie I so agree with you, it makes me mad that people do not use common sense to keep their pets healthy, as you say they do not the same amount of care as kids
We agree that every day should be Responsible Pet Ownership Day! We hope your vet appointment went well.
Thanks and her vet appointment is next month. It should be every day as people need to realize how important it is
A bug thing in our house to not just be responsible about our dog’s physical needs but their emotional needs as well! We try really hard to keep those minds engaged and active, specially as we approach our senior years and cognitive decline is front of mind.
Nikki Layla is a senior and I do everything to keep her active and engaged plus healthy
Perfect list of responsibilities for pet parents! I’m sorry your favorite Vet left the practice, I hate when that happens. You form trust & a relationship, hoping they’ll always be there. Maybe search for the Vet on LinkedIn?
Cathy I so agree with you and I did search for him but he has left the city so will have to get used to another one. He will be sorely missed
