Life is returning to normal

Hello, all my fur friends today is an important day, it is Earth Day, This day is so important for all of us as we need to keep our planet clean, look after the environment and make it safe for the future generations.

Before it is too late we need to keep our oceans clean, the wild life safe both in the ocean and on the land and most important is to keep our air clean so that we can all breathe which means leaving forests alone.

So we are asking all our friends to work with us keeping our planet clean like we keep our houses clean.

Life here in San Francisco is slowly getting back to normal, events are slowly starting with the weather warming so weekends are becoming busy for us.

Last Sunday we went to Easter Sunday in the park which is held every year by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. It is a fun filled day in the park with many wearing costumes, a show and so much more. This one was the first in three years so it was extra fun.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are an organization of queer and trans nuns. They believe all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty.

The Sisters devote themselves to community service, ministry, and outreach to those on that need it.  They promote human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual enlightenment.

They use humor and wit to expose bigotry, guilt that chains the human spirit.

So, we spent a couple of hours there walking around, Layla was in her backpack because of the crowds and she was happy that way. It was fun to be out with others and just laugh at all.

This Saturday is one of my favorite dog events, DogFest in the dog park near where I live. I am so looking forward to seeing all the dogs, people and the vendors and of course see what is new on the market.

I will be taking Layla with me of course but once again she will be in her backpack as she is safer there at her age especially.

As I said life is slowly getting back to normal and it is such a wonderful gift, sun shining, mask on and off we start our fun this year.

Have a great safe weekend everyone

With a woof and love from Layla

Let us shop to help Ukraine

TGIF !!!!

Hi from San Francisco, it is hot here at the moment so we are hibernating inside so that we will not melt LOL.

We are going for walks in the shade and yesterday we went for tea and kvetch time in the garden for a couple of hours which was great especially as there is shade.

NOW do you know what day the 8th of April is? Today is a new awareness holiday that I have not heard of before, National Dog Farting Awareness Day LOL and below you can see what Layla must woof about it. Out of the mouth of babes.

As you all know I have been working social media in my spare time for Ukraine animals especially Transform a Street Dog Organization which is in San Francisco and who is doing amazing work there saving the animals.

To support and help them financially two businesses have made wonderful items which all profits go to Transform a Street Dog. I have bought Layla the bandanna and am getting a t-shirt for myself.

Below are the designs and website links.

So, with Easter around the corner how about getting a bandanna for your dog or cat (yes there are for cats) and for Mother’s Day get yourself a t-shirt. You are getting something new and giving back at the same time.

Layla woofs thank you so much.

Have a wonderful weekend and please be safe

Life is slowly changing

TGIF!!! Spring is here and the weather is warming up slowly which means us being outside more.

I am really looking forward to getting out of the house more now that we can although I am still wearing my mask, events are starting to pop up and life is slowly getting back to normal.

This Saturday I am going to the Ballet, something I have not done in so long and really looking forward to getting out of sweatpants and putting some normal clothes on, what a concept, Yes I will be wearing a mask but it is really exciting.

This month also Dog Fest is happening, one of my favorite Dog Events which is exciting although Layla does not enjoy events anymore but thank goodness for the backpack which she loves we will be going.

I took Layla to the Shi Tzu meet up last week and she did not enjoy herself unfortunately, she was ready to go home the minute we got there and in the past she always walked around all the fluffs but this time she tried running out of the park so I put her in her back pack and she relaxed and was happy, so was I relaxed and did not have to worry about her.

We had brunch with a friend last weekend also which was great and of course Layla was begging for something LOL.

Update on her health, her vet emailed me the lab results today which I am trying to decipher but am relieved 95% is good, her heart is good for her age.  I emailed the vet with some questions which hopefully will get her answer within the next few days. Layla also went to the Eye Doctor and her left eye does not have an infection but because of her cataract her eye is not making tears so its dry and therefore the redness in her eye. The vet will not operate at her age but has put her on new drops which seems to be helping, phew.

So that is what is happening in the senior Layla Neighborhood, we both aging gracefully.

Have a great week and be safe

Layla

We having fluffy over night party

TGIF

The weekend has arrived, and it is going to be fun like last weekend.

Last weekend we went to our first dog event in 2 years, it was small but so great to see friends and the owners of the Pet store that does in good times fantastic events. It was so much fun going on the MUNI (tram) there which Layla loves to ride.

It was a great day out, being out and about with people and yes, I was wearing my mask, rather be safe than sorry. Layla came home with a goody bag which she was so excited to see what was in, gobbled all the treats up very quickly.

We are having a sleep over in our house at the moment, Gidget is staying with us while her mom is away. It is also the first time since lockdown that she is staying with us, and I am loving it. My house looks like a bomb has hit it with toys everywhere, but I say a happy pup is a happy Aunt. Layla tolerates her with patience, and it is really funny.

So that is what is happening in the Layla Neighborhood, always busy doing something and I feel I need a break from all LOL, wishful thinking.

What are your plans this weekend? Weather permitting we going to spend sometime in the park.

Have a wonderful safe weekend

Layla

Valentines Day is here

Hello fur friends,

It is 4 days away from Valentines Day or as Mom calls it chocolate day, and she told me she is going to spoil herself with a chocolate. I think I should be spoiled and not her but hey she does deserve it sometimes.

Mom and I had a long chat this week about Valentines Day and how I do not need anything as I am a spoiled brat but how the animals in shelters need to be loved also so we decided to put a package together of goodies and we going to drop it off at one of the shelters.

Those animals do not deserve to be in shelters but in warm homes with lots of love but we humans are to blame for that so as Mom says those caring humans who are speaking out for them must make sure also that they are spoiled on Valentine’s Day with love.

We are asking all our fur friends to please go to a shelter and donate food, treats or toys so that the animals can feel special love also. What could be better than seeing the smile of a dog or cat being spoiled like we are, it is a blessing.

I have a question? Who wants to be my Valentine?

Happy Valentines Day everyone, make sure you spoil your Mom or Dad with lots of licks and being good,

With woofs and love from Layla

Gotcha Give Away

Friday has arrived, first week in February and Mom has been celebrating my Gotcha Day the whole week. Some of my friends know my story and how Mom found me but am going to share again.

When my fur sister passed away, Mom was with no fur kid and hated coming home to an empty house so after three months she decided to start looking again for a new rescue fur kid. My Uncle was in Los Angeles on business and his friend who lives there is a rescuer offered to help me, she is now my Aunt Cindy. Mom saw me on PetHarbor, emailed Aunt Cindy who went to the Carson Shelter, met me, called Mom and the rest is history. It was an online love affair.

Every year we celebrate my Gotcha Day with lots of treats and my favorite Costco Chicken, yummm, it is the one day in the year Mom does not watch my weight.

It has been 11 years since Mom rescued me, I am now about 14+ years old and Mom has become really strict with my diet, making sure I eat healthy and as she cooks for me my diet has to be very well balanced.

I have been eating Dr. Harvey’s Holistic Dehydrated food for some time but when Mom read about the Paradigm, a green superfood mix she knew she had to get it for me as it is made with 6 dehydrated vegetables, plus herbs and multi vitamins. It has not starchy vegetables or grains so it helps me keep my weight. It is easy to prepare, you mix the food with hot water, add fish oil, let it stand for about 8 minutes and then add the protein you want to add.

Mom also decided to get me some of Dr Harvey’s treats which I love and will never say no to, she got for me a bag of the dehydrated Wild Alaskan Salmon Bites and because Valentines Day is around the corner what could be better than a bag of dehydrated Chicken Hearts. A great way to show your love for each other.

Layla chomping on her new treats can be seen on this video : https://youtu.be/5cdeY0ttlek

Dr. Harvey’s link to read more :https://www.drharveys.com/

There is a coupon for 10% : LaylasWoof10

So, to celebrate my Gotcha Day and Valentines Day we decided to share these goodies with my friends and are having a Giveaway.

The Giveaway is for US residents only, you must be over 18 years old to enter.

We were given these products to review by Dr. Harvey’s.

Below is the link to enter and we wish everyone good luck.

Now am going to finish my dinner and everyone please be safe and stay warm.

Why we speak out against Animal Abuse

TGIF! End of week and our weekly blog is here. This week we going to discuss the animal abuse in the world and say a thank you to Betty White for speaking out.

As you all are aware Betty White passed away a week ago, she was an amazing woman, her comedy was brilliant but her legacy for speaking out for animals is something the animal world has lost. The animals have lost an amazing advocate and we all need to speak out for those that don’t have a voice.

There are so many issues when it comes to animals, a circus or zoo which are prisons for those poor animals and have not chosen that kind of life. The circus animals are beaten and mistreated just to entertain humans which is so wrong, each time a circus closes and the animals are set free I celebrate as they should all be free roaming the land where they come from. Animals in zoos should have that same life of freedom, not sitting in cages or enclosures seeing the same thing every day – that is not a life, that is a prison. It is time that zoos close down also.

Breeders are just as bad, they breed animals especially in puppy mills or cat mills, where the dogs and cats do not have lives, they are baby making machines, living in deplorable conditions and when they cannot breed anymore they are dumped like garbage. Puppy or Cat mills should be closed down and made illegal. I here too rejoice everything a law passes forbidding the sale of pets in pet stores as the pets do not have deserve to be there but like every living being, should be free to live their lives as they do not have a say in their lives and therefore it is abuse.

Hybrid cats or dogs that are bred like Cockapoos, etc are all mutts and should not be labelled as a breed, they are mixed breeds.

That is why Spay and Neuter is so important to keep the over population under control, by doing that less animals would land up in shelters or become feral/homeless, but would have homes to live their lives. If everyone spayed or neutered there would be no euthanasia as the shelters would not have all these poor animals hoping for a rescue.

Betty White spoke about all the above, her voice was heard by so many animal advocates and that is why we are all mourning today her loss and the start of the Betty White Challenge is a brilliant idea to remember her as with all the rescues working day and night to save the animals from shelters they will be able to raise more funds to help them carry on their wonderful work.

Will you be donating to a rescue organization in memory of Betty White ? Layla and I will be doing it to one of our favorite rescues who saves the disabled, seniors and sick pets dumped in shelters and is a hospice so they live the rest of their lives in comfort with love.

Pets are family, the reason shelters are overflowing is because of the selfish inconsiderate humans who think that when they do not want to be responsible anymore they dump them in shelters. A pet should live his or her life in comfort as part of your family.

On this note we are praying that 2022 Shelters will be empty, pets will have loving homes and the abuse will stop.

Thank you Betty for all you did, you will be missed by many, hug your pet,

With a woof and love from Layla

Layla’s Wish for Christmas

Hi everyone, are you getting ready for Christmas ?  What is on your wish list.

Mom and I discussed Christmas, the gifts people give and so much more but this year because of all the pets being dumped in shelters, abandoned on streets, I decided that my wish for Christmas would not be gifts but something more important. So I wrote a letter to Santa saying:#dont

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas, with lots of laughter, food and family but am begging not for treats but that everyone thinks of all the poor homeless and shelter pets that are needing a home.

Please remember to keep us safe from all the not good stuff for pets :

With woof and love from

Layla
